I want to start out in wood carving but have no idea where to buy the wood from. I live in Chester (NW England) and don't know where to start in my search for some softwoods. Would i be better looking online or going direct to suppliers? If so which websites/suppliers should i look for?

Wood Carving is really a nice thing to get involved into, I do not have any specific idea about where you can get softwoods in Chester.
