Do birth control pills make you gain weight? Is it good for your hair and skin?

I've been thinking of getting on birth control pills, to help regulate "Mrs. Red" I just don't want to gain a bunch of weight. I also hear it's good for the hair and skin. I really love my hair so i'm thinking about getting it. Does getting pills hurt? I'm scared those duck lips are gonna hurt really bad =/, but if i'm not gonna get fatter than I am now, and it's good for my hair and skin..then I think i'll take it

Birth control pills have a wide variety of side effects that vary with the brand and your own body. Most pills can cause weight gain. When women experience weight gain from hormonal BC it is usually limited to a few extra pounds, nothing extreme.
In some cases birth control pills can clear up skin, in other cases it can make acne worse. You'll have to talk to a doctor about your specific concerns, in addition to family history of certain issues so you can pick a good brand.
The pills don't hurt in and of themselves, some of the side-effects may be painful I guess. I have no idea what you mean by "duck lips", are you talking about a pelvic exam?

Hormonal birth control is pretty much hit-or-miss, you may end up having to try a few brands before you find one what works with you. Usually it takes three months for the side effects to settle down and your body to adjust; if after that period you still have negative side effects you would consider switching pills.
