im using my moms nice teapot to make some tea and i want to add mango or something to see how it tastes. would that be ok or would that ruin the inside of the pot.
Check to see if your cast iron teapot has a porcelain lining on the inside. Odds are it does. This is just like a porcelain plate, mug, bowl, etc... So if it has a lining, you'll be just fine.
Use the wire mesh infuser/strainer if you have one, so that cleanup is easier.
If it does not have a lining, and it is metal on the inside as well, then it's a kettle (also known as a 'tetsubin' in Japanese). Kettles should really only be used for the boiling water.
You might want to buy some dried fruit to try out in your tea blends.
