Seated Buddha
Posted in Antiques on 12/29/2010 12:49 am by adminQuote by Buddha.?
There is a particular quote By Buddha which he mouthed before taking the seat under the banyan tree prior to starting his quest for Nirvana which is something on the lines of"This seat I take and even if my flesh and bones perish i shall not quit till I find what I'm looking for".Can someone please give me the Sanskrit translation of this. Please!
It might help you in your search to know that the Buddha's statement was almost certainly recorded in Pali, not in Sanskrit.
His statement is often translated as:
"Even if my body dries up and my skin, flesh, and bones are swept away, I shall not move from this seat until I am enlightened."
In this sentence, Buddha proclaims his sincere and strong commitment to attain enlightenment, no matter if it costs him his life.
I haven't found the Pali (or Sanskrit) original of this. Sorry.
