Storage Tea

Ok so I've just recently fallen in love with matcha green tea! I have a question about storing it however. When I order the tea it comes in a nice canister but inside its sealed in a shiny packet. Once i open the packet, do i leave the tea in it or can I dump the powder in the canister, and throw away the package? Also ive read that you should keep the tea in the fridge a lot, but sometimes they say that you should bring the powder back to room temperature before you make the tea. That seems very picky. Is it necessary? How do you suggest I store it?
I usually keep mine stored and sealed in its packet to maximize flavor. Then I put it back into the tin and back into the fridge it goes! As for bringing back the powder to room temperature, I don't really think it's necessary, but if you really feel like waiting (I know I couldn't, lol) then I would just scoop out the right amount of matcha into a cup and let it sit on the counter for a while.
