I got a job at a Chinese university in Shanxi Provence, but the recruiter I said that local authorities in Shanxi provence put a temporary ban on foreigners coming to this part of China because of the swine flu Does anyone know if this is true and accurate information would be welcome.
I had a job in Shandong ANESL. It seems, then all the school has suddenly ceased all communications with me and the recruiter, ANESL, claimed it was because the local government stopped issuing Letters of invitation / s RP due to swine flu. It was two months ago. Two days ago I received an email from the school - they sound a little desperate for a teacher. Suddenly, when the semester is near, there is no mention of restrictions due to swine influenza and they want to recruit me without even talking with me. I had a job offer from a school in Taiyuan, Shanxi and while it has not get to the point where they were applying for an invitation letter for me, we exchanged many emails and he certainly did not look like there would be a problem. I accepted a position in Shaanxi and they are mailing the letter of invitation this week - not to mention all the problems of swine flu. It is certainly possible there are some restrictions, because the swine flu, but I'd be very skeptical to believe that they are not invitations. This is devoid of an entire province of hundreds or thousands of English teachers for classes of students dollars or more are already enrolled and in some cases already paid. I have no concrete way to know with certainty what the provincial government of Shanxi fact, but based on my experience as an English teacher headed to China in three weeks has heard the same thing myself, it seems like an excuse / Way for schools to "save face" - rather than simply tell the teacher they are not wanted and / or necessary, some seem to using that excuse.
